When can silkworm eggs be placed in the fridge or freezer for storage?
Are they placed in the fridge or freezer?

After the eggs lay they are white in color. After about seven days they will turn black or purple looking. After they all turn this color you can place them in the fridge for storage. Don't put in the freezer. Leave them in there for about a month then you can take them out to hatch them.

You have to place them in the frig after they trun from yellow to a dark purple color. The temp they're stored at is important, as is the humidity. Some eggs will hatch after 30 days others will take longer 60-90 days. Most of the time your frig at home is not cold enough and it ends up killing the eggs. Mostly because you open and close it to much throughout the day.

why regrigerate the eggs?
If i don't refrigerate it, will they hatch?

i have couple of silkies that i bought from you that has successfully turn into moths.
they just finish laying couple of golden eggs.

thank you

The eggs have to go through diapause, before they hatch (well to have a good hatch). Some eggs will hatch with out using the frig some times, but not many.
