Silkworm questions

So I have 50 half inch silkworms coming in the mail today and I have a few questions.

I recently read that I can gutload them with dandelions from outside as well as using the chow. How safe is this and can I just walk outside, pick them, wash them off and throw them in with the chow, yellow flower, stem and all? Are there any other gutloading options?

Also, I purchased 1lb of chow. How long will this last me? I know they eat non-stop, I plan on trying to breed a few of them and I am curious how much I will have left over after keeping around 10 of them until they are moths and slowly feeding off the rest to my cham.

I appreciate any other information as well.

Hey, ive put up quite alot of info about silkworms if u go onto my profile and my posts or my topics i have alot of info about the breeding side of it! Im not sure about the dandelion thing i just ordered some powdered chow and make it up as we go along

If you get them to eat anything leafy they won't eat the chow
If you you the 1 lbs of chow properly it'll last more than your 50 worms

they don't have to be fed everyday. They can go days without eating. If you are trying to get them to grow big then you want to feed them everyday.

We found that if u kept them in a dark place and warm with quite a bit of food and clean them out every other day works just aswell every day and if u want to fatten them up quick then seperate some off and they grow very fast. And the whole moth side to the worms is just amazing and so fasinating we have loved doin it!!
