Wondering if anyone can give us some advice: This is our third season of hatching out silkworms and our silkworms are not cocooning. The do their 'dump', go transparent and start pulsating, then they are doing a range of things from turning black, some appear to have gone brown, a couple appear to have died (most are still alive!) ... very weird. Some of them have looked as though they have just begun their 'guide wires' for their cocoon, but they stop, crawl away and show no more interest (not even in the leaves) - it is at this point they dump, become transparent etc. We have kept putting fresh leaves in their container (& removing the dead leaves every second day), we have put egg cartons and cut up toilet rolls for them to cocoon on. We only have about 15 worms left now, so we are starting to panic that we have lost our stock!
