Simba's first day outside

I thought Simba might like some real rays of sunshine, so I've taken advantage of this gorgeous day and put him out.

In his enclosure of course so I know he's safe, and he'll probs feel safer ;)

Have put his enclosure on our table so its half in the shade and half(including his basking branch) in the sun, so he can choose where he wants to be.

Gentle little breeze blowin so not too hot out there and have gave him a good long mist too which he seemed to enjoy. Will keep checking on him to make sure he's happy and not overheating or anything....although temps in Madagascar come to mind LOL:confused:

Have just left him to it, with hic locusts in there too :p. I can see him from the kitchen window as I write this.

I wonder if he feels more 'at home' outside? All he can see is blue sky :D

I just love watching him. Hope he enjoys the outdoors. I'm going to put him out whenever we have a gorgeous sunny day, as we don't get many over here!!!!

I can't believe his 6month happy hatchday is tomorrow!!!! My lil man is growing up! (tear)

My cham loves it outside but he always runs for a huge wisteria vine nextdoor that goes into my yard. He got there one time, i never thought id find him but lucked out, my son in law spotted him. He loves catching mosquetoes, flies and dragon flies. The natural light probably makes up for any uv he may be missing so i'm sure it's good for him. Hope you both enjoy the summer.

Well I think it goes without saying that he's thoroughly enjoyin himself out there!!

Check out 'King Simba'......

WHOA!!! I just looked out the window there, the second he chose to shoot at a locust!!!! Looks fab from a distance. Now I think we can safely say he's happy!!!

Now he's sat in the sun with his head in the air looking VERY proud of himself!!! LOL

Simba the Sun Worshipper!!! LOL!!! :D

Simba is such a little cutie and growing so fast. Looks like he's really enjoying his outside time. Enjoy evey minute you have with him.

Thanks :D

He really seemed to enjoy himself today.

Gave him a good misting every hour, which had me filling up the spray bottle a few times!!! So set up a dripper too. (Thanks to Citizen Snips for the how to ;) ) Works a treat.

He was drinking from the side of his enclosure while I was misting it from the outside which was cute to watch.

He was NOT happy when I put him back in his room though!!

Set everything back up (temp probes and mister/sprayer etc...) which he didn't mind....just sat an watched me, then left him alone to adjust.

Went back in to find him near the bottom of his cage, NEARLY ALL BLACK!!!!

"In a right little mood with yourself aren't you?" I said.

He actually seemed to turn his head away as if to say "I'm not speaking to you, I was enjoying that sunshine!"
Poor lil man, U'd think I'd completely ruined his day!!! LOL

Left him for a couple of hours then just been up to check on him. He's all happy green again and curled up ready for bed.

I reckon he'll sleep tonight....he had a lot to take in today. Including all those UV rays!!!! I reckon that would have done him good!!!

:D Awwww! He is turning out to be a right little stunner! I love his yellow mouth - reminds me of a baby bird! It may be worth setting him up an outdoor cage so you don't have to keep moving everything. Amy has an old wire hamster cage that she goes in outside. I just put a plant in and cover part of the top of the cage with an old sheet to give her some shade.

Thanks Tiff :D

I laughed when I read the baby bird part!!! So cute..."Simba sparrow" LOL

Yeah it would be useful to have an outdoor cage for him. Not that he's all that pleased with coming out at the moment, but hopefully we'll get there.

I'm going to get his adult cage soon as after watching him today I think he's outgrowing his baby one....so I'll keep that and use it as his outdoor cage ;)

I want to get him used to coming out/being handled as I've said, for practical reasons, but after all that new stuff today I want to give him a break (Especially as I've also changed his enclosure round) Don't want to stress him out!!! Hopefully he'll learn that being handled and out of his cage means good things, like sunshine and juicy treats :D

Only time will tell.....
