Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.
The current issue that a few times in the past week, he has gone to his spot to sleep anywhere from half an hour early to 2 hours early. i go over and look to see if he's actually sleeping but he's not. his eyes are open, but he's in the "sleeping position" with his tail all curled. i'm a bit concerned. was going to be taking him to the vet this next week just for a check up... but was hoping to get some ideas on what possibly could be going on. thanks!

I don't think that going to the sleeping spot early is something to be concerned about, it is probably winter related, because of the shortened days. all of my chams do it.

However you're keeping your cage too hot for a panther of his age. Ambient temperature should be mid 70s, with the a basking spot around 85.

My chams also head to their sleeping spot an hour or two early and just chill out before lights out pretty often. Nothing to worry about imo. :)

mine too.. Enie gets himself all snuggled into his spot for the night 1-2hrs early.. sometimes he tests out a few of the regular 'beds' before choosing one to curl up in :p

lol glad it's nothing out of the ordinary! he only just started doing that this week. before, the lights would go off and he would then run around to try to find a spot. thanks! :)

My lazy boy might wake up at 8am, ponder life till 9am then walk around, then go back to the sleeping spot at 3pm so i cant see him when i get home from work. Other days hes still basking at 8pm

Yeah, my guy did that tonight too and has been so I brought my light timer back a half hour so lights go off a little earlier.

My Male panther Spunky goes to his sleeping spot about 3 hours before the lights go out everyday. Some days he'll stay in his sleeping spot if it's cloudy out all day and won't come up. My female Veileds go down to there sleeping spot about 30 mins before the lights go out. I think I should change his name to lazy. He's been pretty much like this since I've had him for the past 5 months but all my guys do get about 12 hours a week of outside time in the sun. So they all get spoiled :)
