New Member
Hey,

A couple of days ago my big male amby was just fine, eating and drinking and then i noticed him doozing off a little bit during the day. But now he sleeps alot and his eyes are slowy sinking, I know this isnt a good sign. But what could of made him fall so fast? Could it just be age, im not sure how old he is. Or parasites or somthing?

PLEASE ANY INFO WOULD HELP!!!

sleeping during the day is not good at all. is hydrated enouhg during the day? 2-4, one mintue mistings a day plus a dripper always works for me. check to make sure its not just something in his eyes. if you have live plants in your enclosure the sap/leaves could be bothering his eyes which is making them shut. has he been moving around or no?

No he's not moving, he was fine the other day. He has a dripper in his cage, a humidifier and i spray the cage in the morning and the afternoon. I jus dont know could it be somthing else like parasites?

I jus sprayed the cage and sprayed around him, and he moved and opened his eyes. He moved a little bit and then stopped.

i know this can be a pain in the ass but we need all the info you can give us.

Goopy White Gunk In Eye!!

Ok, I think I figured it out. When I pck him up and look at him, he opens his eyes. One eye is fine it jus looks like its sunken because of stress, However the other eye is cloudy and looks like its white and goopy over it!?!? I dunno if this is an eye infection of maybe he might have punctured his eyeball!!!

Im not sure anyone have any help wth eye issues, please leave somthing.

seems like you're blasting him with too much UV radiation.
He might have develop conjunctivitis.
3 UVB lamps are too excessive even for chameleon.
I say leave 1 UVB (5.0) and then get rid of the other.
change the infra red heat lamp to a normal incandescent bulb.

I turned two of them off, I misted him a bunch and he opened his eyes for a bit

thanks alot ill keep you all updated,

i think he'll b a bit better now.
but, the crusted eye need a vet attention.

keep us posted.

The second thier lights went off he opend his eyes and started wandering around. What are the signs of conjuctivitis and how can I help him?

The thing I dont get is i have a female veiled that also lives in the cage and her eyes are fine. It could be that she spends most of her time in the lower levels of the cage around the food haha.

Any way thank you soo much, he's already starting to look better.

goopy, crusty, and swollen eyes (it's all because of extreme uvb radiations).
the female probably have a place to hide from the uvb.
plus veiled is more tolerant of uvb than panther.

remember, too much of uvb is as deadly as no UVB at all.
generally, 1 source is enough.

glad to help.

I recommend to make an appointment with your exotic vet about the eye.

i hope this is just a misunderstanding from my side.
are you insinuating that the veiled lived in the same cage with your panther?
if it is you need to separate them.

plus you might want to turn off the extra lights in your veiled cage also.

The thing is though its not crusted, It just looks like cloudy and white. Ill try to get a pic of it. But his pupil looks bigger and the entire eye looks watery, glazed over and white...

Ill try to get pics up,

This is a big E on the eye chart. It's very bad to keep two chams together in the same cage, unless they are planning to consumate there loose aquaintance. Chams are territorial, unsocial, creatures. They tolerate us because there is a screen between us and them.

If you're female is hanging around on the lower part of the cage, that's probably why. She won't get Uv's down there, or warmth, or relaxation.

It's very important to seperate them asap. It's not even good to have two chameleons housed seperately in cages next to each other
