Sleeping early

Hey, again

So lately i have been noticing my male veiled sleeping towards the end of the day before his light turn off. they are set to turn on at 7 and off at 7, around 5:30 - 6 i notice him in his sleeping spots sleeping. i read before sleeping during the day can be a bad sign so i just want to see what you all think

There are several members on the board that have a theory that ties the season with the time the cham is heading to bed. Many people think that because if either less daylight hours, or maybe some internal secadian rythym, the cham is changing it's sleep schedule.

I personally haven't noticed this with my year old, adult male veiled, but many people here are reporting similar things. This season also often brings hunger strikes and less appetite.

I wouldn't worry until you catch him sleeping in the middle of the day. Early evening roosting is fairly normal according to reports here.

Yea i was pretty sure it was nothing to big, but just wanted to make sure. Kinda new to chams so a little paranoid, really dont want to lose this guy. theres something about chameleons that just so i dont know different, they look so prehistoric

i'm having the same issue with my 11 month old veiled right now, he goes to bed about 45 minutes before i shut the lights off and he hasn't eaten for 3 days, and before that he was only eating maybe 2 supers a day but i'm not too worried, i still offer him food so if hes hungry he can eat

this is his third hunger strike by the way

Pretty much all mine do the same. If they don't sleep before the lights go out, they're already curled up in bed. I've seem my oldest veiled sleeping with the lights on.

yea, my guys dont sleep with the lights on, but i do have a cool set up.
My timer is set up so my 2 or lights on each cage go off one at a time.
One light goes off, then 10 minutes later the next one, and my adult veileds third light goes off 5 minutes after the second.
Its like an artificial sunset.
Once the first light goes off all my chams start to settle down for bed.

Same here, One of my veiled's is going to sleep around 45 minutes before lights out at sunset. On a gloomy, rainy day he'll go to sleep around 4:30.

My female veiled tends to go to bed sooner now, especially if i have her out during the day.

Hard to tell, I'd just go with they are changing the time they want to sleep, again probably because of the time of year?

My Chameleons always settle into bed around 7 or 8pm and once they are in their sleeping spot I turn the lights out for them. Then turn the lights back on at 7 or 8pm depending on when they got turned off the previous night.

I am a bit ambivalent toward this.
My chameleon also sleeps earlier now that it is winter (regardless of the light).
Kammerflage suggest reducing the time on to 10 hours during winter to match the season.
But, so far, i just kept my 12 hours light on session.

If we're talking about veileds here, it is mid-winter in Yemen right now and they are getting 11.5 hours of sun. During the middle of summer they get a little over 12.5 hours of sun per day. If you want to duplicate nature, that would be the way to go but I'm sure the 12 hours on, 12 hours off is perfectly fine.

Chameleons can't see in the dark. It is perfectly normal for them to start looking for a resting spot prior to when they are expecting the lights to go out.

my male veiled def starts to shut down and get ready for bed about a half hour b4 lights out.

my veiled today started going to bed at 5:15pm instead of 8pm like hes been going. i think thats considerably earlier. i didnt wanna let him fall asleep. is this a bad sign? he went to bed around 630 last night too. im concerned. my jackson doesnt wanna go to bed until 9pm and his light goes off at 8pm as well. any input?
