Yeah but this picture was taken at night at the time when she usually goes to sleep so I don't understand what you're saying.
This is normally her bedtime and that's why she was sleeping. Also Usually if they feel endangered or very stressed they rush to sleep bc they feel done
It wasn't taken during the day, this post was made at nighttime and my chameleon sleeps around this time.Yes also if they sleep during the day they are extremely stressed and shutting down because they are so scared of being eaten and feeling that pain
Yes but she was still in your hand when she fell asleep and chameleons even if it’s their bedtime shouldn’t fall asleep in hands bc they will be aware of there surrounding so she was highly stressed ….when it’s her bedtime she should be in her enclosureYeah but this picture was taken at night at the time when she usually goes to sleep so I don't understand what you're saying.

She wakes up 7am every morning and goes to bed 7pm and she's asleep by 7:15, I didn't take these pictures until she was already asleep for about 30 minutes - because again it's her bedtime.
Really should not be holding her when she should be in her cage sleeping. This just causes stress. When you go to put her back in your waking her up to do so. If she is only falling asleep on your hand when you darken the room that is because it is her only option not that she prefers it. Or if you are pulling her out of her cage while she is sleeping this is not good. This is basically causing the same stress that an animal plucking them from the trees would.Yeah but this picture was taken at night at the time when she usually goes to sleep so I don't understand what you're saying.

Thanks for explaining it betterHello. What they're saying is Typically holding them stresses them out. It doesn't matter if it was at their bedtime. Chams will more than likely never feel safe enough to sleep in your hand. The cham was more than likely so stress that it chose to shut down.
She fell asleep in my hand, I don't wake them up to pull them out of their cage. It's not her only option though, she has dracanae trees right next to the couch I was laying on that she can move to, so she does have other options, she just stayed on my hand. But I will stop holding her at her bed time I guess since apparently that stresses them out.Really should not be holding her when she should be in her cage sleeping. This just causes stress. I would avoid doing stuff like this. Limiting stress with chameleons is important because they do not show signs of illness from it until it is often to late.
It's just not a good idea. Chams are more sensitive than other reptiles. The amount of time they "like" to be held and when is in reality not much at all. Especially Veileds. I am not trying to bash you or make you feel bad. I just would hate for this to cause major issues and I know you would not want it to either. She fell asleep in my hand, I don't wake them up to pull them out of their cage. Not trying to be rude but u said it was her bedtime correct. If it’s her bedtime she should be in her cage not “cuddling” chams aren’t shoulder pets if you want a reptile that can sit with you on the couch beardies are greatView attachment 310266
I was sitting on the right side of the couch, when she prefers she will walk along the back of the couch to sit in the dracanae trees. Some nights she will walk from my hand to the dracanae and sleep there. So she doesn't always choose me to sleep on, she will also feed out of my hand which my understanding is chameleons don't always do that. But again will refrain from holding.

Well the cage is screen and is right next to the couch so I doubt it would retain temperature like that but it gets cold here in Oregon at night. That's fine thank you I will leave her in there.I would assume your chameleon is falling asleep on your hand when it's near her bedtime for a couple of reasons....it's near her bedtime so she would normally be going to sleep then anyway and because you've removed her from the cage she is likely cooler in the room than in the cage which will also induce sleep.
I would just say don't take her out at the time of day when she will soon be going to sleep.
