Small Chameleon species what’s your favorite

what are your favorite pint-size chameleons?



I’ve been thinking about adding a new chameleon to my home. I would like something small and would like to know your thoughts?

I love the T. Hoe's and the Carpet chameleons.
I am also pretty partial to @JacksJill and her Jacksons... They are pretty amazing.

Pygmy chameleons are absolutely adorable, but I basically know absolutely nothing about their care! My favorite chameleon species is the jeweled chameleon (furcifer campani), but they are rare to come by, are extremely sensitive, and really hard to care for (so probably not an option).

I believe some pygmy species can, but I have no idea. I’m sure @kinyonga will be a much better help!

HAHA no I just always laugh when we enter that slippery slope. I believe the only ones I have read about that can be housed in groups are some pygmies. But I do not know nearly enough about them and I know what I read said they still had to have a certain amount of space.

I love Jox's Willsii and also @snitz427 has Kinyongia Boehmei and her babies are pretty darn precious. Both of them have ones that I literally never heard about prior to them getting them.

Same to eventually work towards keeping Willsii once figuring out and mastering their care!

Yea i would go for the pygmys as well probably a few, cuz im a sucker and you can house them together but im in the same boat and definitely have to do more research and get the old setup adjusted to their needs.

Yeah, I'd go the pygmy route if you can. They seem so amazing! Too bad species like rhampholeon acuminatus and r. viridis are no longer available in the states. I think someone on the forums has brevicaudatus in Canada if I'm not mistaken--for what brevis lack in color they bring in personality. I wish pygmies were more readily available since they seem perfect for many people who lack space.

I mean look at these pics of acuminatus. How did these guys never take off????!?!?! (Not my pics obviously). Though I know some people in the U.K are still working with them. Though I do know that protection measures are preventing people from bringing more into the hobby--so I'm not complaining--conservation before selfishness. They have amazing color and look more like regular chameleons than brevis do.

You can keep one male brev with a couple of females as long as the cage size is good.

There are quite a few small species of chameleons...,but you need to look at what's available....it won't necessarily be what you like that's available.

I don’t think you could go wrong with Lateralis. They are gorgeous just wish they lived longer.
