I've been getting the smaller mealworms / superworms should I upgrade them to the fat big ones? Or they can't handle them? My vields are about 6-8 months old bought them from petco 3-1-08
food items arent ment to be bigger then the space between the eyes (im guessing the fatness of the worm more then length though). I don't think the worms are actually much of an issue personally though its more crickets and locusts i'd worry about. I'm not expert though.
You should probably stay with the small ones till your veiled are more mature. They might not be able to digest the chiton that the adult mealworms have.
At his age,he is old enough to eat them however be careful not to give him too many. Also you wantto be careful that they don't become addicted to them. I have 4 of mine right now that are and won't go back to crickets.
8 months old should be able to handle bigger worms.
Did you hear the news about mealworms' effect to gecko posted by Dave Weldon?
If i were you, i would steer clear from mealworms for the time being.
Mealworms and Superworms are not the same thing. An 8 month old cham should be able to handle the mediums Superworms and maybe even the large. I would avoid Mealworms all together.
