smoke scented candles

how sensitive are chams to smoke or scented candles if someone would blow smoke right out the window with none staying in the room would that be ok

Imo, any residual smell or smoke bothers them. Mine even open up after ive frreebreezes quickly or after the dust my vacuum cleaner leaves behind. How durable are they to your specifics, i dont know. i try to keep my air as clear as possible.

I am a smoker and do all my puffing outside the house because

a) even the rooms i didn't smoke in at my old house were nicotine stained.
b) at least 50% of the toxins created by smoking are invisible and travel a lot farther than you would think.

Think of your cham like a new baby, would you smoke out the window in baby's room?

As for candles, they also release residue into the air around them, that's how they scent the room. I personally would do neither in the same vicinity as my cham :)

Right, I'd agree with Angie. Its the residue the smoke or candles leave behind that is the big problem, not the active smoking or burning itself. Those residues settle on everything...like your cham's plants. When the cham licks the leaves and climbs around the cage it is picking up the nicotine, tar, petroleum based waxes, resins, etc. on its tongue and its skin. Chams and birds are very similar in their sensitivities and respiratory tract structure. And, the rule of thumb for birds is pretty strict...no smoking or scented candles at all.
