So. ballast or bulb?

I have gone through 2 shoplights on my veileds cage in a month, they just stop working even though they are still plugged in unless i leave them off for a while-but later they just go right back out, i bought a new shoplight and it flickered every once in a while but hasnt gone out until now, i tried a different outlet and nothing, i've got to go back to work now so if someone could tell me if they have experienced the same problem if maybe the bulbs are causing them to go out or if i'm just getting back lights?

I've never had this problem, where did you get your shop lights?

when you say shop light are you saying linear tube fixture ? If so is it a T12 or T8 and what kind of bulb are you running in it.

check the wiring and the cords

Lights shouldn't burn out so quickly. I had a similar problem that turned out to be from a bad plug strip. You might want to replace all your extension cords and plug strips. If that doesn't fix it, have an electrician check for a wiring fault in the house.
