so right now my panther is on a cricket diet with the occasional wax worm as a treat. I've read they also like silk worms and pheonix worms. Can those be used as staple diets to mix things up a little bit. I'm not planning on totally stopping with crickets but just wanted to check if there was any issue with feeding silkies and pheonix worms on a consistent basis.

Silkworms are excellent feeders. I also use pheonix worms, superworms and hornworms sometimes, too.

cool, I just picked up some pheonix worms and he loves them. I think I might try and raise some silk worms since no stores in my area carry them and its kind of a pain to order them.

Try to have a basic food, for example crickets. Then you can give them as a treat from time to time. Cause some of the worms has alot of fat in them and less protein. But then hornworms you can fill with nutrition, really GUTLOAD them.

But a basic diet always pays off!

how young is too young to start feeding worms to your Chams? Im getting a baby < 4" soon and am wondering when it would be ok to feed him some obviously smaller worms too

hmm Well try to vary as he/she grows to be larger. Cause then you have to find the proper size of the worms etc.

As long as the feeder is never wider than the space between his eyes you should be good.
The feeder can be longer though, like worms. Sometimes you can cheat a little with soft worms like silkies, but it's a basic rule for feeding anything to your cham.
