My amazing girlfriend is getting me a chameleon for Christmas. I have read a lot of care sheets and websites on chameleon care. I chose to get a veiled chameleon, since from what I have read is one of the more hardy chameleons. My greatest worry is the dusting some say use either the Rep-Cal with D3 or with out D3 and stick to it. Others say use both but only use the D3 twice a month. Also the Vitamin A bit is a little cloudy a few state using the Herptavite is good enough then I read that you need to use a preformed vit A substitute. Any help will be greatly appreciated by me and the health of my new cham.

Dust the crickets with calcium supplement every other day. D-3 twice a month for older healthy chams. You can do D-3 two to three times a month for younger chams, or females who have just laid.

There are really lots of different factors that can be taken into consideration, such as UVB rating. Each Chameleon has his/her own characteristics (Which is why we love them so much).

You will want to use a vitamin supplement once a week at least. Especially for young chams, or females who have just laid. Make sure you are giving him/her water and misting the cage a couple times a day.

Oh..and Congrats on becoming a Chameleon Owner. You will love it. I personally have a Female Veiled (Mira), and will be picking up my first Male Friday. I have studied and read almost every piece of info you could find out there. I studied and learned for many years before I felt I could take the leap of of owning one of these wonderful creatures.

You will get tons of different answers to questions, truth is...Chameleons are still mysterious to us. If you were to ask 3 different people, each would have different techniques. Just mind the basics, be careful, and love and respect the Chameleon! AND HAVE FUN!!
