Sperm Plug? Something else?

something's going on with my 1.5 year old male veiled chameleon. I was away for two days and when i came home there was blood on the bottom of the cage and down one of the branches. He also looked a bit dehydrated, but otherwise was acting normally. I checked him all over several times and he has no injuries.

One person told me that he may have been trying to pass a sperm plug and ended up bleeding from his vent. I didn't see a sperm plug in there but i was also just mainly concerned with the blood so i may have missed it. and then just now i come into my room to check on him and he's sitting on one of his branches and just... dropping this disgusting white stuff from his vent. i have no idea what. is it sperm? is it chameleon diarrhea?

it wasn't solid, it was dripping. and it was honestly really gross.

id also like to add that this all started the day after i brought a new chameleon home, a female.

any ideas what this could be?

I'd have a stool sample checked with a vet. It's not unusual to see the white, mucousy, urate, but it is unusual for them not to be pass it with normal stool following. What you are seeing isn't a sperm plug.

Looks like a prolapse to me. Make sure and keep the area moist. Him rubbing it on branches and causing bleeding is not a good thing at all. If the prolapse doesn't retreat, I would take him to a vet. Some coax it back in themselves and that is fine. But seeing that your guy has been rubbing around, the area may need to be cleaned and looked over before this happens.

i don't think it's a prolapse. there wasn't anything hanging out this morning when i found the blood and when that nasty stuff was dripping it was clearly some sort of fluid and it dropped down to the bottom of the cage. nothing's actually come out of him that wasn't a fluid

I have yet to be schooled completely in reptile parasites, but could this possibly be a worm problem? I know that hookworms in other species can cause lacerations in the intestines, thus, blood in the stool or leaking from the anus. A snotty mucus drainage would make some sense too, as a defensive response to an intestine injury...

Please post a couple more photos of his butt/vent area.
Personally I would get him to a vet.
If you go to the vets I would try to take some of that fluid too if you can collect it.

I'm very impressed by your awareness! Absolutely, parasites are a possibility and that is why I suggested a stool check by a vet.
