Squirt's chin & neck appear to be swollen

He has not injured his tongue that I know of and he just started lifting his head after he eats and drinks. I gutload the feeders with organic carrots....could he be getting to much vitamin A? I am in the process of finding a good vet in the Austin area.

Both without D3
Is there a reason why you are not supplementing with D3? As long as the reptivite is being lightly dusted only 2 times a month and your calcium is only calcium without D3 then I am not seeing a reason for edema due to supplementation.

What calcium are you using?

I've been told to not use D3
Squirt goes outside almost every day so at this time D3 is not needed.

What insects have you been feeding him? What do you feed the insects? Please be specific. I'm particularly interested in D3 and vitamin A in the food.

Only carrots?
The dubias are fed dubia food, apples & strawberries, the hornworms are fed carrots or hornworm chow if I have it. Silkworms get silkworm chow or carrots and the superworms are fed carrots & apples. Should I be feeding them something different?

Yes...the crickets, roaches for sure need a better diet....but since I don't know specifically what the dubia food is or the hornworm chowder you're feeding them I have no hope of helping you with the swelling if it is from nutrient imbalance. Hopefully someone else has some ideas. Sorry.

Thank you so much for your help. I am going to get better veggies for gutloading. This swelling is recent....just about a week. I am trying to figure out what has changed in regards to his diet. I follow the same calcium and vitamin schedule. The only thing that I have changed is I have put a small humidifier in his room that he sleeps in. Could this be contributing to his swelling?

I made Squirt an appointment with the vet for tomorrow morning. I know that he doesn't feel good, so something serious is going on. I went home at lunch to check in on him....he doesn't feel well at all. I will keep you all posted on what is going one.
