Star Wars? Star Wars. Star Wars!

It's this week! It's only days away! I can't take it. I'm so excited that I feel sick. I have two tickets for shows on the 17th: 7:00pm and 10:35pm. 6+ hours of Star Wars seems like barely enough.

So... in the spirit of Star Wars mania, I took an old photo of my cham and Sithed it up a bit. Enjoy!

What are YOU doing on Star Wars Day?

I've been fangirling all over the new Independence Day trailer, much to my husband's annoyance.

(Sorry, grew up LOVING the original 3. Then they released those other three 3 things when I was a teen and it was like nope, I'm done. I'll wait to hear how this newest one is before I get any excitement.)

I will probably celebrate by rewatching my favorite episodes of Star TREK :p
Now, if anyone wants to talk X-Men: Apocalypse, I'll be over at the cool kids table.

I have no problem fangirling over Star Wars AND Star Trek. I have TNG footie pajamas on right now :p I found the X-Men movie series just so disappointing. I was such a huge X-Man fan as a kid, but the movies made me so sad. The first one was epic, but the rest just kind of puttered out. I actually disliked DoFP more than I disliked The Last Stand (and I really, really did not like that movie).

I can't wait for that. I hope they bring back The Most Epic Extra Ever.

Pshaw, the Star Wars prequels were just a bad fever dream. That's what you get for giving George Lucas too much rope: he hangs the whole audience! Disney put him on a tight rein... and nothing could be worse than The Phantom Menace, so at least there is literally no where to go but up! Even if it was 3 hours of watching Yoda pick his nose and eat it, it will still be better. I have "a new hope"! heh heh

I haven't watched any of the newer Star Wars movies. Just Star Wars, Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Glad to hear I didn't miss anything, lol. I'll probably watch the new one, it sounds like it might be good. Unlike the last Indiana Jones movie, that one was AWFUL! Southpark hit the nail on the head with their "critique" on that one.

STAR WARS! I’m seriously considering staying off the Internet from next Thursday evening to whenever it is I see the new Star Wars film so nothing gets spoiled.

I'm proud to say I've never seen an episode of Star Trek, nor any of the films. I'm not sure what X-Men are

We can't be internet friends anymore...

I’m sorry it has come to this. Wouldn’t some of my other awesome qualities (snark and sarcasm, Manhattans, being able to quote Monty Python and the Holy Grail verbatim) make up for it? Who is else going to fill your Tweeter feed with "I'm never drinking again" proclamations?

You make a staunch argument. I'll reconsider my position.

I remember my Dad watching the "original" Star Trek but I never really liked the character portrayals much. Couldn't stomach William Shatner. The first Star Wars movie hit the theater in a little town where I worked as a summer camp counselor, and the kids begged on their knees to go see it. Some of them even dressed for the occasion in beach towel capes, decorated work helmets, goggles and gloves (you know, knight's gauntlets). We adult counselors were skeptical about another "rocket drama" but ended up just blown away even more than the kids were. We couldn't wait to tuck them into their bunks so we could sneak back to the theater to watch it all over and over again. Ran around in the dark woods surrounding camp zapping each other with lightsabers like complete idiots. The Empire Strikes Back was great too, but I lost my love for the whole thing after the 3rd movie. So many of these series end up as vehicles for CGI and endless battle scenes. Less and less character building, rehashed scripts, little plot depth, and humor obviously targeting children. I pitied the cast having to speak such insipid lines. I hope the new movie isn't anything like the prequels. Futuristic scenery just isn't enough... monotonous Jedi preaching, an overload of fights and saber conflicts isn't what made the original so much fun.

This... this is the most true post about Star Wars I have ever had the pleasure of reading.

Star Trek?? You can't be that old! I used to watch it when I was in high school. Some great social commentary. I don't think I've seen any of the movies though.
Showing my age- I didn't know this chat section was down here! Just discovered it now, ha ha.

Not old enough for TOS, but old enough to watch TNG original airs on our antenna TV :D
I had the biggest crush on Picard...still do, as a matter of fact o_O

.......Anyone else ever had to cut knots out of their hair after trying to recreate Leia's non-bun hairdos as a kid?

And Lathas - it was Data for me. :D
