My ambilobe stays in bed almost all day... its not everyday but every few days.
Chameleon Info:
Your Chameleon - The species, sex, and age of your chameleon. How long has it been in your care? Ambilobe Panther Chameleon, Male, approx 7 months old... I have had him since Sept 28 2012
Handling - How often do you handle your chameleon? I do not handle him much, I am trying to "tame" him by putting my fingers out just enough for him to hold on to me... I have had him out of his enclosure less than 8x since I have had him. About 4 days ago he actually climbed up my arm and sat on me for a while.
Feeding - What are you feeding your cham? What amount? What is the schedule? How are you gut-loading your feeders? I feed him crickets... about 10-12 a day medium sized ones (the crickets stay in his gallon feeder with fruits/veggies overnight if he does not eat them all). I feed him at around 9am then give him a few more around 1 or 2pm. I use bug burger, dino fuel, greens/carrots... he may have mealworms or butterworms (4 a week)
Supplements - What brand and type of calcium and vitamin products are you dusting your feeders with and what is the schedule? I use Rep Cal 0% D3 once a day for the first feeding... Rep Cal multi vitamin every other sunday... rep cal with D3 every other sunday as well.
Watering - What kind of watering technique do you use? How often and how long to you mist? Do you see your chameleon drinking? I spray with warm water at around 830 or 9am, then 2 to 3 other times throughout the day. I have a cup that drips water onto leaves. I also have a fogger in upper corner of enclosure. Sometimes he sits under it. I have noticed he will drink if i spray the vine/plants right next to him.
Fecal Description - Briefly note colors and consistency from recent droppings. Has this chameleon ever been tested for parasites? Fecal matter is brown/semi solid... urates are not the best color (a bit peachy/yellow at times but i also see white at times) so I am working on getting him to drink more. No fecal ever done. I just found last week that my dogs/cat vet does work with reptiles though
History - Any previous information about your cham that might be useful to others when trying to help you. He seems to be way overdue for a shed. I was able to predict to the day, the last 3 sheds he had. This is taking forever and not sure if he is "moody" due to it. He did show a sort of gray color for a day or two but it was probably due to being cold... he shows normal pajama colors during the day in his sleeping spot (like right now).
Cage Info:
Cage Type - Describe your cage (Glass, Screen, Combo?) What are the dimensions? Reptarium 28x28x48". Mesh enclosure. I have the sides covered in clear plastic as to hold in humidity while we have the heat on this winter.
Lighting - What brand, model, and types of lighting are you using? What is your daily lighting schedule? I have 2 reptisun 5.0 bulbs on top so it gets through the mesh. He will sit about 7 inches under the bulbs in his "spot". I turn the lights on at 7am and off at 7pm.
Temperature - What temp range have you created (cage floor to basking spot)? Lowest overnight temp? How do you measure these temps? 73 degrees cage floor, Center of basking spot is 84 degrees, lowest overnight temp is 67 degrees. I have 2 crappy regular thermometers at the moment
Humidity - What are your humidity levels? How are you creating and maintaining these levels? What do you use to measure humidity? Humidity is 72 to 87%. I have the sides covered in plastic, i have a fogger. I mist 3 to 4x a day
Plants - Are you using live plants? If so, what kind? I have one umbrella plant and one corn plant.
Placement - Where is your cage located? Is it near any fans, air vents, or high traffic areas? At what height is the top of the cage relative to your room floor? Cage is corner of room. Far corner. There is a vent in the floor but it is not near any heating/ac vent. Only traffic in the area is me. It is very quiet. Top of the cage is 6 ft.
Location - Where are you geographically located? Southern New Jersey
Current Problem - The current problem you are concerned about.
He stays in his bed spot. I have the lights on, misted, done the normal routine... and he is staying there. Right now he is there. he is not showing dark colors, he shows his pj colors... he will not climb on me and if i try to scoot him upwards, he will puff up and get mad at me. I am not sure why he does this some days... other days he is normal. I first thought he was being weird due to a shed that is coming (he is wrinkly and looks kind of dull as in dry)... but he still has not shed. I have been noticing the wrinkly skin since 2 weeks ago or so.
Thanks for your help. Hope I didnt forget anything.
