Stick issue

This is more of a story than anything that I just had to share. The other morning I woke up and noticed something odd sticking out of my chameleons mouth. He proceeded to try to swallow it but was having a hard time. I kept and eye on him and noticed he was still trying to swallow/get whatever was in there out of his mouth. After awhile I became concerned and pulled him out and pulled his mouth open. Upon opening his mouth a little black thing is sticking out. I begin pulling it out and it just kept going and going. My chameleon has swallowed a stick whole. I attached the pic of the stick next to an iphone for scale. Does any one else have chameleons who are as dumb as mine?????

Typically for panthers but not veileds. Could the insect have been sitting on it or near it?
Best to make sure there are no more little branches in the cage.

Problem is it was just a branch from his plant that I think he accidentally swallowed when trying to eat a leaf

That's impressive that he even tried to get that.
