sticks for multiple levels of basking?

I keep seeing sticks wedged in between corners of enclosures and am wondering where people are getting them? Are they from a store or are they from outside on the ground? haha. or would it be possible to get them from outside and maybe bake them in the oven to kill bacteria?

you are correct, but them or grab from outside. woods with saps can be harmful. but essentially can get them from outside. some people do nothing, others air them out a couple of days. some may bake them at like 250 for half an hour, you can also use a watered down bleach and rinse. even do bleach and bake to be even more sure. and with wedging them you can use hot glue, zipties or thumbtacks

I get all my branches from outside as well! Why pay more for branches when you can find totally non-toxic, safe branches nearly anywhere? And mine have been going strong for like 2-3 years now, even under sunshine and misting.

Home depot sells a six pack of 6' bamboo for $1.96. They will last about 2 years. Michaels sells a six pack of 6' lacquered bamboo that lasts for years for about $10. I scuff both with rough sandpaper, to give better footing. I also use Flukers bend a branch with live plants. If using real branches, baking in an oven or bleaching first is a needed precaution. With the real branches, I used to ride around the neighborhood on weekends with a hacksaw and pick up trimmings from the neighbors. Ed at Kammerflage Kreations sells real branches, but the shipping is more than a mortgage bill.

The whole selling the branches thing really mind boggles me, lol, nothing against Ed, but I would rather be the crazy guy at the city park with a hacksaw. And yes,light bleach rinse, then wash, and finally bake, works great. Oh, and I'm going to check out the bamboo at the Depot, sounds likes worth while investment at a few bucks, thanks for the idea Junglefries.

I like other tree branches because they have a variety of widths from one end to the next, so you give chameleon feet a little variety. Bamboo tends to be all the same, from end to end. Unless you can find a multi-pack with some thinner and some thicker?
