Stinky Crickets!

I don't know if this should actually go in here but oh well!

At the weekend we had one escaped cricket. He escaped in the living room and I was expecting to find him at the window at some point.

This morning I was getting ready for work. I put on my shoes in the bedroom and felt something rather large in under my left foot. Welll it was the cricket  he had travelled all the way upstairs, into my room and then my shoe! I squished the poor little bugger with my toes :(

Anyone else ever found a feeder in a strange place?

Oh, not a nice suprise.. That's way I love my cat. Each time a cricket or roach (!) escapes I can count on my cat, she always finds them!

Ours usually just get into the curtains and make a racket all night. One git behind the vents under the dishwasher and was so loud night after night I ended up supplying it with a tasty Raid gutload...

Theres one in the cham cage right now, its day 2 of 3min of chirps every 2 huors...

The last escapee made his way to the curtains too and that's why I expected to find this one at the wondow!

Hopefully it's too cold in shetland for them to breed under the fridge!!! But we usually only lose one bug at a time and we have always found them eventually............... touch wood!

In my purse at the grocery store when i went to grab my wallet. I picked the wallet out and here comes a big ole' female. Jumped right out and landed on the clerk who screamed wildly and made a huge deal out of this tiny bug.
Needless to say i haven't gone shopping at my local publix.....

Last week I had company over. I opened my closet door and saw something large moving. I screamed like a 5 year old girl, and went running towards my friend. I jumped in his arms screaming "KILL IT, KILL IT" because I thought it was a Wolf Spider.

He too started freaking out, but went to check it out. Turns out.. it was a cave cricket! He attempted to kill it, but it jumped into the shoes on the floor of my closet. Now I quickly open my door to get a shirt, and shut it immediately. That mutant cricket is still in there, and I don't want it jumping on me! Eww.

I find it odd that I raise crickets, yet the large "basement" or "cave" crickets scare the bejesus out of me! I've always had a fear of them, which stems from my childhood. My dad once threw one down my shirt when I was 13. I was wearing a sports bra. It jumped around and I couldn't get it out! I've been terrified ever since. Him and my sister thought it was hilarious to tell me they put one in my bed. My mother would just about kill them because I wouldn't sleep in my room for days.

I have a Jack Russell Terrier who loves "playing" with crickets. She's a very smart dog. So when she would find one, I would say "kill the cricket". Now all I have to do is yell that phrase and she comes running! This is the best trick I ever taught her. :D

That's a horrible thing to do! I don't mind crickets really but I wouldn't like a giant one! Thankfully there are no wild crickets in here so no fear of mutant ones :)

I'm not fond of locusts. Funnily enough I like the big locusts because they are a bit more slow and easy to get a hold of. The tiny ones are horrible, jumping everywhere and so small that they seem to just disappear for a while :( loose bugs are a bit freaky, loose bugs you can't see anymore are more freaky! You don't know where they'll turn up!
