Storm in Madagascar.

sounds like we need to start a cham rescue mission!

I promise ill take them all for safe keeping, then after the storm, put them all back! :rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

YES! which is why we should band together, and go rescue them..
well only temporary house them.. for a few months..
till they all breed... and lay eggs..
then I SWEAR we will put all of the original chameleons back... and keep the eggs for new bloodlines!
 
I believe that all life is sacred. That being said, I have to agree with Laurie. Without people there would be nobody to rebuild and protect one of the rarest ecosystems in the world. Logging and other detrimental industries have erupted in Madagascar and thankfully there are many who are trying to help the people continue to prosper in other ways such as learning to focus more on ecotourism for successful living conditions for all.
 
I don't know if any of you follow Andrew Sullivan's blog, but he has a weekly contest where people try to guess where a picture was taken (could be anywhere in the world. People actually guess "the third floor, fourth window from the left in this building"). Anyway, this week's contest picture happened to be taken in Madagascar. The reader that won the contest sent info about the storm today, including a very scary picture from Antananarivo, which was also hit.

I agree with a portion of what you said. Life is sacred. Who is to say that any one life is more important than the other, whether it be a chameleon, a dog, or a human. I honestly have more compassion for animals than I do for humans. We are destroying this planet, one day at a time. This is not meant to offend anyone at all, just my personal opinion. If for instance I was in Madagascar during a horrible storm from which people or animals needed to be saved, I would save whatever (meaning animals or people) I could in the amount of time I had to work with, now if my hands are full of small animals, I would probably not stop to save a person, if it meant that I had to put another animal to it's death. I believe all life is equal and deserves to be saved/treated equally. No one person or animal should be put above the others in terms of saving lives.

As far as wanting to save people, so there is someone to rebuild and help after the storm, I don't agree. "People" have ruined Madagascar, without people that country would not be having the issues it was.
