Okay, so i set a dish (ashtray) with crickets in it right under Castanza (suspected male) He moves slightly away from dish than just looks at cricktes but doesn't seem interested. From across the tank comes cinnanom praying on the crickets from a higher branch but not attacking, suddenly Castanza is interested and turns towards the crickets, both just stare for about 10 minuts, Cinnamon walks away and so does castanza..... So i move the dish to where cinnanom moved to and instantly she eats the largest cricket, Castanza finds a fruit fly and eats it. What the hell?????? i was gonno move the dish to cinnamon after castanza ate, niether of them ate yesterday, why wouldn't Castanza eat a cricket? I don't understand!

Any clearity, advice, explenation, would be greatly appreciated!

Hmm, i dont know

post a clear pic of each

How do they behave when around each other? Do they both pattern up?

I'm not that familiar with pygmys. What happens when you house more than 1 cham is: there is always going to be a more dominent one (the alpha or omega) and the other will feel intimidated and submissive. Sounds like the one is showing dominance over the other. Hopefully an experienced pygmy keeper will chime in.

do they both pattern up? Im not sure what you mean by that one stays one one side and the other on the other side... they behave pretty neutral i think, this is the only strange behavior i have seen towards each other, other than that that castanza is more difficult to feed than cinnamon, he will not eat from a feeding container

I mean pattern up like Marlow

Actually, pygmy chameleons should be kept together, there is no dominance issues with them, I personally do not feed my pygmys from a bowl because part of their natural behavior is to lie in wait until unsuspecting prey comes by and they ambush it. They dont move around much like a true chameleon so cup feeding does not normally do well for them.

I know it is recommended they be kept together but can more than one male be kept in an enclosure? I have heard differing opinions on this.

You need at least a 50 gallon tank to avoid male competition. I also don't feed mine from the cup, rather I keep my crickets in a large breeder box, then shake some into a smaller one and just toss them on in. I find the chameleons don't go for them until about an hour after the crickets have stopped running around.
