I was hoping someone could help me, I have a male panther chameleon I bought a few months ago he is almost 3 years of age. I have him in a 2×2×4 ft screen cage with an automatic mister that sprays once an hour for 15 seconds, but I live in Arizona so I hand mist before and after school and at night to add humidity and give them a drip once a day. He eats 10 - 15 crickets a day with calcium powder (non d3). However, lately his eyes seem rather sunken in, his skin seems very pale in comparison to what it is normally, he hasn't been eating all his crickets (maybe about half have been eaten) and normally he is feisty and mean but he left me pick him up out of the back of his tank and didn't puff at me until after I got him out. I have him directly under a drip right now I'm his tank and he is sitting drinking and his urates are a light yellow. I have 4 other chameleons in the exact same conditions and they are all flourishing but all my others are females and no I have not bred him recently, he hasn't been for the 4 months I've had him and a few before that

He might be ready to shed. They will get dull and sometimes will not eat before a shed. It looks like you do need to up the misting time. Once an hour for 15 seconds is nothing, especially in dry climate such as AZ. Set the mister to mist for a minimum of 2 minutes every three hours or so during the day. Misting for at least two minutes should entice him to drink.

As @timw1 said he might be going into shed so thats just another reason apart from the slight dehydration you should up your misting time and frequency. I find that a fog like mist through the screen works best when your animal is shedding as there will be more moisture content in the airm
