sunlight substitute

If I now have my chameleon cage next to a window with blinds always open do I still need the uvb light?

The uv cannot pass thru the window. Will the window be open or shut? Also, if you have the cage next to a window it can warm the cage up pretty quick. Be careful!

as long as the window (glass part) isnt there its fine if theres screen. remember breezes can chill them and like maxttu said it can also warm them up

Yes, you still need a UVB bulb since UV rays cannot pass through glass. That window would have to be open with the sun in sight of that window for at least 6-10 hours every day. Since the sun moves over the course of the day that is not possible. And in changing seasons that won't be possible without altering the temperatures either. When the sun shines in on the cage monitor the temperatures closely as it gets warmer than you'd expect.
