Superworm breeding

I am trying to breed superworms. So I have about 7 full grown adult beetles right now and was wondering if anybody knows what it looks like when they are breeding or laying eggs? I was taking some old food out and putting new food in and ones of the beetles had some red thing sticking out the back end, they looked round and were very small. It went back in when I touched it. Does anybody know what it was?

That was likely a female depositing eggs. I've had most luck with my breeding colony when adding a small section of branch for them to lay eggs on, especially something like oak with rougher bark. Just make sure there aren't any ants or other insects on it. The males are a bit smaller than the females I think, and will climb on top of the females during mating.
