Superworm/Mealworm Preperation

Hi there, I have a jackson named Merlin, and all the poor guy gets are crickets. Let it be known he's only been with me for a week as of today, but I was curious about other diet options. I work at a pet store, and we sell both mealworms and superworms. I have heard so much banter from both sides as to how to feed them to a reptile and whether or not decapitation is necessary. Voicing from experience, would you feed a Jackson superworms, mealworms or both? decapitate them first or no? I have just ordered 200 more crickets for the week (I have two pig beardies too o_O), and was also thinking about trying blue bottle flies.

Thanks in advance,
Zack

I use both. Just remember both items are best for variety rather than the bulk of the diet.
Decapitation totally unnecessary and superstitous and ignorant. For any healthy lizard. Try putting a drop of water on a superworm head sometime and see how long it takes to drown and then imagine how long it would take to drown in stomach acid after being chewed a few times by a lizard...

I just realised the use of the terrm ignorant could be misinterpreted as a slight against your question. I apologize- it was not intended to be so. I was referring to how often that bit of folklore seems to be passed around the internet by well intentioned individuals who have no real life experience. I've fed zillions of mealworms and superworms to thousands of lizards with never a problem.
