supperworm question?

superworm question?

i know this may be a dumb question, but do superworms(zophobas) turn into anything?
Mealworms-beetles
silkworms-moths
hornworm-moth
Phoenix worm-soldier fly
wax worm-moth

How does breeding take place/work?
would a sterilte box full of saw dust or w/e it is work?
i can buy a 1000 for 17$ so i wouldnt mind breeding them or just keeping them alive for a while.
if kept in the quantity what should they be gutloaded with?

thanks!

They turn into a Beetle. To get them to turn to a beetle, they have to be separated each by themselves. It takes about 2-3 weeks to get the superworm to turn into an alean looking pupa. Then another 2 weeks or so to turn those into beetles. It's a long process. The beetles will breed when placed together and lay eggs on slices of potatoe you put in there.

Gutloading supers is really simple. Put them in a bed full of bran flakes. Use Potatoe and Yam as your water source and gutload. Also, they have a very long shelf life so buying in bulk is great!!

I forgot, they also love apple slices. As long as you keep potatoe/yam/apple slices in there for them, they can last 6+ months. Dust them with calcium before you feed them off and they are a great feeder. :)

just for fun:

yea...well.... my guy is on a superworm binge.
so, buying 25 at a time for 4$ is hitting me in the head finally.
so i did/doing some homework and found them for 17$ for a 1000.
just needed some information on them.
is 6 months shelf life at room temperature?

Yup ... I keep mine at room temp.
You'll have to figure shipping into your formula as well .... wait, I'll do it for you ... they end up being about 3 cents apiece, not including any overcount.
