Ok im gettin ready to get my chameleon soon and i want to make sure i have all of my facts straight before i get a pet and possibly kill it. So far ive read from a couple wed sites that i only need Repta-Calcium and Rep-Cal Herptivite Multivitamins are these the only supplements i need? How often will i need to give these to the little fella. Ive been reading about gut feeding the crickets and I was wondering if i used the repta calcium i wont need to gut load my crickets with any fruits and veggies with calcium in them right. I was maby looking into gut loading them with oranges spinich and collard greens.I have a very good cage and very nice beautiful plants im gettin from my aunt who is a extremely good botanist and a organic gardener.I just need help in the supplement department, I know the list of bug he can eat and only a few for a treat.I know i gut load every bug i put in there.Do i supplement everyday? every other day? i was looking into getting a veiled cham about 3-4 months old not to young but young enough.Do i gut feed every feeding session? i have so many question because i hate killing animals.

Hello silent,

Get used to seeing Brad R. The guy is everywhere and is extremely helpful.

You should definatly read his blog, there is a lot great info in their.

Here's my two cents and I yield this information to those who know far more then I do, which is just about everyone.

There are several things you need for supplements: Calcium without D3, Calcium with D3, a multivitamin, and vitamin A. You can give calcium without D3 at most feedings but the calcium with D3 and the multivitamin should be used sparingly. D3 can build up in the system and be harmful so I would only use it twice a month, once if your letting your cham bask outside on occasion. As for the Vitamin A, refer to Brad's blog because I don't know enough to cover that.

As for the gutloading, thats a separate issue. You can look into proper gutloading, but I would gutload every meal, no matter how you are supplementing.
