Hey guys!!!!

i currently have a post right now in the health clinic section because me and my 1 year old Male Ziggy (BTW it was his birthday last week :p ) have been having some skin issues. I'm dusting his crickets, but I was wondering if there are any types of specific supplements that are very good for chameleon skin and/or skin development.

Describe his diet and supplementation in detail please. What feeder insects you use, what dusts (brands and how often you use them), what you feed your insects, etc. I don't know of skin-specific supplements, but if your cham is healthy overall, its skin will be too. You are what you eat!

Right now we dust about 4 out of the ten daily that he eats once a week with reptavite with D3. I was under the impression that they are only to get D3 twice a month, but my boyfriend is justifying it because we only dust half of his crickets............ :/

I'm not sure if this is the right way to be doing things, we can back off of the D3 but other than that he has adequate UVB, we just bought him another bulb actually last month.

dust all crickets every day with calcium without d3, twice a month with d3 and twice a month with multivitamin. i very rarely skip a dusting. I also give my guys a liquid vitamin A supplement once a month. just one drop on a cricket.

I bought a Tropical Mist spray by Zilla a few weeks ago hoping it would help my Veiled's drying skin. It's loaded with Aloe Vera, Vitamin B1, and B3. I spray it on her when she is sleeping (since she hates moisture with a passion) and she barely even notices! Since I do it when she is not active, it allows time for it to soak into her skin. Right away, I noticed her skin was softer and she was more radiant with color. This can help along with supplementing his food to make shedding easier, as well as moisture and coloration. Good luck!

While a product with these ingredients could soften and moisturize skin, I don't see that it contains anything to supplement the cham's diet or affect coloration. Color isn't in the skin surface...its determined by heredity and hormonal activity that affects the color-bearing cells under the skin surface. IMHO I think you are seeing what you hope to see.
