SUPPLEMENTS!!

I have been told many times what supplements to use.
I just don't know what to use when. Could someone give me a calender thing? Right now I have ReptoCal, by Tertrafauna. I haven't used it yet.

Thankyou!

Ok. For the calcium without D3 does it also have to be phosphorous free?
Also, is the multi vitamin I'm using ok? The "Tertra Fauna Repto Ca l"

If its this ReptoCal it has some phosphorus in it....and preformed vitamin A.

I use a calcium powder without phos. at most feedings and a vitamin powder with a beta carotene source of vitamin A twice a month and a phos.-free calcium/D3 powder twice a month.

Look at this thread for information...lots more of these threads can be found on this forum by doing a search....

Its a good idea to get some better vitamin powders. I suggest the repcal brand but I use repti calcium sometimes. But yes just read around more and you can find how much they need. It all just depends on the individual supplement and how much calcium/D3/VitA/ect that is in each different brand.

When you go to dust the supplements do you dust each cricket that is being fed to the chameleon at that sitting or just 1-2 of them?

It is not possible to provide a simple schedule that works in all situations.

Some chameleons go outside, some dont.
Some are female, some male.
Some young and growing, others are mid-aged or seniors.
Some keepers offer a good variety of insects, some people unfortunately do not. Some use primarily crickets (poor calcium to phosphorous ratio) and some use primarly other bugs (with a better ratio).
Some people gutload those bugs well, others do not. Whats in the gutload (or missing), and thus going into the chameleon (or not), should impact how you supplement.
Some use good UVB lighting, some do not.
Some people have panthers or veileds, other have different species (which have different needs).

So like it or not, you need to do your research and determine for yourself what is best for your animal.

It sounds reasonable.

I use a phos free calcium powder on all crickets and most superworms. Dont need to dust the silkworms at all, in my opinion. Dont over dust the crickets - just LIGHTLY dust. Or dust every other one. I use a vitamin powder (with beta carotene)about twice a month and a calcium with D3 powder about twice a month (opposite weeks).

Crickets and silkworms are a good combination, but You might consider adding in a couple more types of bugs now and then.

You say he is young and growing - how young? 3 months? 6 months? 10 months? there is a difference in how much they eat at 3 months then at 10 months. For really young ones like 3 months, I would feed as much as he can eat within 5 minutes, several times a day. At 6 months, maybe 3-6 bugs a day. At 10 months, some people cut back to feeding every other day. I personally feed most days of the week, but perhaps less quantity per meal than those feeding every other day.

He is two and a half months.

Thank you!

For supplements im using RepCal Calcium, Calcium with D3, and Herptivite.
