Terramycin? What strength? How to administer?

I just got a female ambilobe last week. She has been sleeping alot during the day and keeping her one eye closed most of the time. She was born on July 31.

I've been reading as much as I can about this and have been showering her every other day and misting her regularly. I have a cool mist humidifier set up to pipe mist across a leaf that condensates and drips for 2 2 hour periods a day. She seems slighly better after showers but the next day she's back to the same.

I think it is probably an eye infection and would like to treat for it now. I can get her to a vet right after Christmas but don't want to wait.

Is there a certain strength Terramycin to get or is it all the same. Is it an ointment or drops? Getting ointment into the eye seems like it would be almost impossible. I see that I should dose twice a day but how much of what strength?

Can this be purchased at a drug store? If I have to go through a vet then I'm gonna have to wait til after Christmas anyway.

Thanks,
Kevin

It is a type of ointment used mainly used for farm animals; however I usually have a few tubes to use when the need should arise. They are very small and can be gotten at farm/tack shops usually. Here in NV I can but it with no problem, however I think that CA peeps are not allowed to do so. Call around and see if shops have it before you make the trip. It dose not come in different strengths… I put it on a Q-tip and the apply it to the eye in a twisting motion. Also, while at the feed store get some syringes that you can fill with water to wash the eyes out a bit. It is possible that she has something in here eye that she cant get out… Good luck!

I had her under a Repti-sun 5.0 14w linear and him under a Repti-glo 5.0 14w linear. I then switched two days ago and he is still fine and she is still not.

Thanks I'll try to find an open feed store tomorrow and try to see if any vets are open.

Thanks again,
Kevin
