As a kid my room was in the basement. I had these same centipedes living in the room with me (not on purpose- my room was their natural habitat). Sometimes they would get behind my poster and their legs on the paper as they moved around between the paper and the wall would make a really loud noise LOL. They gave me the creeps.

Its a centipede, those things are gross I always see them in my room, I live in the basement so thats where they thrive. One good thing about them is that they kill all the other bugs though.

I have the odd one in my house too...I don't like them near me because they move so quickly and I'm worried that they might bite...but I don't kill them since they eat other bugs and help keep the escaped cricket numbers down.

Its a silverfish.
THey eat paper, drapes, dandruff (yes disgusting I know) glue, sugar, coffee, Anything that contains polysaccharides, such as starches and dextrin.

The insect shown by the OP is a house centipede like the link given by antithesis123 indicated....not a silver fish.

Holy crap, I got the shivers just looking at the thumbnail photo. GROSS! I don't even know what I would do if I saw one in my house, the roaches are bad enough as it is.

Lol their so creepy I will be lying down in bed watching tv and one of those will run wicked fast across the floor, happens all the time. I kill so many but they just keep coming. I also have sticky traps set up and there are all over them along with some other really nasty bugs.
