Feel free to ask any questions. No soil needed just leave the bottom bare and lay some egg flats down :) if you want them to breed put a heat pad on the bottom or ceramic light for heat above and a water dish and food dish and your good to go.

I'd say that crickets are still important to the health of your cham and should still be used. Especially if you aren't dusting with phosphorous. (crix are high in phosphorus)

Ok good to know, just want to make the base feeders dubias cuz i dont have any specialty pet stores near me so i am stuck with the 13cent per cricket from Petco, those F*ckin crooks!

What is the ideal temp for breeding? I plan on keeping them outside and in the summer temps can reach about 100, would this be to much?

Also do they need a light source?

Those are two points that i did not see covered in the blog or jojackson's post.

Thanks!

No light source needed. Idea temps is 80-90° for breeding. Added the info to my blog also

A lot of people use the red light because it gives off heat and isnt too bright. I have put a basking light over mine as I dont have a red one yet and it raised the temps greatly in hopes of more breeding. I would think 100 would be too high..Maybe if you mist it down with cool water and keep in a shadey spot perhaps...they are tropical, so maybe it would fly..I dont know.. Ive kept mine around 70 and just started pulling it to 80-85.

Ideal breeding temps are up to 110 degrees f. with gradient in a well ventilated enclosure.
Do not keep them outside.
Dark closet or garage is ideal.

By outside i ment not under A/C. It will be in a large closet on my porch that has the door open for the majority of the day

If i can convince the girlfriend...(she has this thing about roaches)

110?!??! serious? LOL I keep mine in a small rubbermaid right now... need to move them back into the 20g long tank I had them in before. The tank had a heat pad on one side and food on the other with a screen top. I did pretty well with this. I guess the area above the heat pad was pretty close to 100+ degrees.... When fresh food was put out... oh man was it a feeding frenzy!

Great photos! Mine always hide no matter if there is foot in there or not. What size tank and what size heat pad?

Mine stuff themselves into a paper towel roll end to end.. I shake and they come fluttering out..about 50 of them now..

I need some water crystals.. Hmm..

So, Im thinking mine directly in front of a window isnt great then..Im afraid of the closet keeping..Im scared I wont see them if they escape and theyll attack me int he dark..
