The elusive carpet Chameleon

I Finlay got some pics of my Carpet babies. They are very hard to take pictures of. Always on the move and all are very shy. I also don't want to stress them too much as they have only been here a few days. I promise better pics in the future.

I would like opinions on sex. I have my ideas but would like to hear from everyone else. #3 and #1 I think are pretty obvious. Its number 2 who stumps me.

All three Carpets below are from completely different bloodlines.

I know your sig says 1.2 and it looks like #3 is the only male by comparing their tails. From coloration, well from what I've read, it looks like #2 could be a female. They tend to be more colorful right, instead of the usual male. That's my take on it, but I'm not an expert and I've never actually seen a carpet cham in person.

I am hoping you are right. That is pretty much what I am thinking. Sometimes they are all the same color. It confuses me. I can see the bulge in #3. And sometimes I think I see it in #2 but who knows. #1 I am sure is a female. There really is no doubt on my part. She is really obvious, No bulge.

WOW, the first one Is very pretty! I cant tell If they are male of female, but I want one!

Ryan,
Looking over your pics, it appears you actually have 2 males and a female. The female is #1, with the males being #2 and #3.

Thanks,

#2 does look like a male to me but I was hopefull as I wanted two females.

If you had to put a % on #2 being a male what would you say. ?? 100% 80% .

Good news is , This is my excuse for 2.2 :D . I happen to have a cage for her already.

Ryan,
I'm 99% sure on that #2 being a male. The coloration is one often only seen in the males (typical brown...a lot of my shots have this), and he appears to have the bulged tail. I guess that makes your excuse valid. ;)

Perfect, :D , I just got a good look at him and see the bulge now as well.

Thanks again. Here comes 2.2!

The color issue is not totally true, I have had several females show 'male' colors for many months, same with WC females that come in looking like a male. The only way to tell if you have a m or f for sure is to wait and see if the buldge or lack of it.

Chad,
Somehow I knew you were going to pounce on that. I was not eluding to the fact that the coloration was the prime signifying factor. That would be silly, as we both know carpets often times are very inconsistent. A prime example is Ryan's #3. Those colors are more typical female in my experience, but the bulge cancels that out.

However, more often than not, the brown is typical male, though NOT a confirmation of such. I was just tossing that in as one more prime example. My main assumption was 95% based on the bulge.
