Hey cham family, my heart is shattered when I tell you that Nachito crossed the rainbow bridge last night. After her little crash last week, we started surveying her activity and looking at her quality of life. Just before the weekend we decided that, while she was getting a little more active, it was best to let her go with her dignity rather than wait for more suffering.
While she wasn't the cleanest slate or cham to start out my adventure into the chameleon hobby, I wound never trade the last three years with her for anything, even with the ups and many downs.
I would love to make the suggestion to add Raintree Animal Hospital in Fort Collins Colorado to our vet list. While this was the only time I ever visited, they did a full work up and look over Nachitos records and blood work, confirming her current diagnosis's and even pointing out and giving answers to some smaller issues in the past, one example being that she likely had a fracture in her back leg before I adopted her. They were so, so very knowledgeable and kind when the decision was fully settled.
I want to thank every single one of you who was with us throughout these years. This community is such a bright and amazing place. Me and Nachito couldn't have made it this far without you all. I know it's going to hurt to not have her here anymore, and taking down all her lights and supplies was terrible, but I know I did the best I could for her and she's in a better place now.
It's devastating that her story ends here, but the last few years were a blast and she never, ever gave up. Thank you everyone for all the love and support that was given.
Here are some of my favorite photos of her throughout our time together
