This is where it was when we first started. Although I still think it looked pretty, there was a distinct lack of foliage and basking perches. It also needed a real plant and a removal of the substrate.

This is how we have it now, about a week later. We removed the substrate, put in some real birch branches for basking (could still use some more), removed all the flowers since he seemed intimidated with them and just generally unhappy with their presence, and put in a Schefflera potted in 50% coconut husk/50% play sand soil with some nice rocks on top of the soil. Also, wrapped a bendable artificial vine around it. I'm much happier with the all natural environment and it's incredible how much longer and more efficiently the Schefflera leaves hold water droplets in comparison to the fake leaves.

Albert has been increasingly more grumpy and upset every time we change his environment so I feel kind of bad, but I've spent a minimum of like 4 hours a day since we bought him researching and I continue to learn more and more. I'm hoping that it will be good for a while in it's current state so he can get comfortable!
