There are so many tips on the forums. Read through the Care Resources, I have found them invaluable. Just following all the threads has also taught me a great deal.

You are in the right place!! Congrats on your upcoming new guy. They are like potato chips though....you can't have just one...

ah yes. ill just share some of the things I figured out when I got my cham.
1: humidity is much harder to sustain than I ever imagined
2: your chameleon won't eat right away so don't be alarmed
3: some chams don't drink from a dripper on their own so pay attention
4: research proper food size for your chameleon
5: don't be stingy on lights, it will only come back to haunt you, 5.0 uvb plus uva/heat
6: be very slow when approaching your chameleon, most owners come up fast and try to grab their lizards like a bearded Dragon, this will only agitate them and associate you with a bad time. get their feet to grab you then slowly lift up until they climb into you. chameleons are more scared of you than you are of them, keep that in mind when you handle them.

and water....there will be so much water...

think about drainage or how you are going to get rid of the waste water if it all doesn't evaporate. Plan ahead on that one, it will save you a world of grief...

and my lessons from today...make sure you plant has ready good drainage to avoid root rot...I had to replant everything today and improve my drainage.
