i think my cham migh have uri. well he sort of sneezed or weezed when i sprayed him with water. i dont no if he did that because he was mad or if he did it because he has uri. he sometimes was walking around in his cage with his mouth open. i thought he might of sneezed a few other times but i also am a little crazy.
do you think its time for a vet check?

what will they do on a regular check up?

will he be able to test the calcium levels in his blood or whatever for a regular check up?

anyone in illinois know of a good vet that they took their chams to? i know of the website to find one but i was wondering on first hand experience.

Is your cham sneezing or wheezing when you are not spraying it with water ?

Does it gape when it is not overheated? Does it make gurgling sounds ? does it foam at the mouth or expel mucus?

If its a URI, I would expect the symptoms to be constant...

If in doubt , consider a vet visit.

at this point, its time for you to monitor him closely.

At the same time, you should get with members you have come across on the site that live close to you that can reccomend a good reptile vet. as well as looking online and in directories

from what i've heard, you have to find that diamond in the rough vet who gives great care and charges reasonable prices, but if your cham is sick and you can't make it getting him to any vet is obviously your best choice

good luck

he is probably fine

i havent heard one good sneeze or wheeze outside of spraying. i have a fish tank and a turtle tank in my room so the sound of running water is pretty loud, so i think that i hear things but i cant be certain.

he comes from the basking area, and walks to the other side of the top cage, and opens his mouth there. i dont know if he is cooling off there or if he is saying arrrrrgh, or breathing. no mucus or foam that i have noticed. when he opens his mouth it looks fine to me, but what do i know.

he has been a little dehydrated laitly and wont drink much. ive been giving him more sprays, and filling up his dripper more, but nothing really works. i ordered some silkworms and hornworms from coastal so hopefully that will give him some more water in himself.

im not sure with the gurgling. that is a maybe. but again the running water makes me hear things all the time, and if im listaning for something wrong i might trick myself into thinking that its there. i always hear the phone ring when it really doesnt.

anything i can do to know any better?
what does an average vet do on a check up?

Hey nightcrawler. Like everyone said when in doubt do a check up. I would keep an eye on him also. Saying that my female panther does the same thing when I spray her directly. I think she just doesnt like it so I dont do it. That is the only time she does it when I spray or put her back in her cage so I wouldnt be worried yet. Keep an eye out on him though.
