wow, looks like a non-cancerous tumor, a hematoma. no joke. my dog gets those, and they look just like that. not too serious. it may just be the pic playing tricks on me though, so im not toooo sure.

My veiled hermie has/had those and they were spreading. They were on his joints and tail. Vet said that he sees "other" problems manifest themselves through skin discoloring like that and that often times it is not a real skin condition itself. Ran some blood work which showed that he had a high whiteblood cell count and something else -- vet suspected some sort of infection and inflammation. We put him on a course of broad spec antibiotics. The skin discoloring stopped spreading and each time he sheds the area that it affects decreases.

I'm not sure that I'd call a hematoma a non-cancerous tumor though -- it's just a large "bruise"/blood collection under the skin. They go away when the blood/fluid is reabsorbed, it's not really a growth.

well, you and me are talking about 2 different hematomas. the ones my dog has, keep getting bigger until we have to get them removed. also, sorry for using the wrong term. its just how a hematoma was explained to me by my vet.

I would assume that vet visit is in order then? Thanks for the help guys.

Edit: I see what you mean about the growth that is just the angle the pic was taken at. It looks like a skin discoloration, i took the pic with my camera phone as well so it is not of the highest quailty.
