Tongue Problem???

Hey guys i've got an 8 month old veiled chameleon named Gobi. He seems completely fine but I was watching a few youtube videos and noticed that Gobi wasnt shooting his tongue anywhere near the distance of others I watched. Even the babies could snag a cricket from 5 or 6 in. away! When he sees a cricket or worm, he acts just as others do but he will stalk it until he's about 2" away :O and even then he is hesitant to go for it. I'm not sure if this is a real problem or maybe just how he likes to eat his prey. Anything I may be doing wrong??? Please help!!

My female veiled that is about 5 months old gets fairly close to what she is eating as well, I see her tongue go pretty far once in a while but usually does what yours sounds like he does. I dont think there anything wrong with his tongue but is probably just how he hunts. I think its probably that in the wild the bugs can get away easier and more stealth in hunting is needed whereas in captivity your cham knows that it is gonna be pretty much guaranteed dinner and doesnt necessarily have to hunts it so stealthy. Maybe?? but im no pro.
