Tongue Problems? help please

I've recently bought a panther cham and had a few questions. Is it normal that he or she does not catch crickets with his or her tounge? He or she just walks up and takes it like my bearded dragon... lastly does anyone have an idea of what this panther might be? He or she is about 5/6 weeks of age.

I have seen this guy on instagram with a panthers that he says has never been able to shoot is tongue out so he hand feeds it. Im no expert but at least he is eating. I have read up on some tongue issues where they will not eat at all.

It's not normal per 'se, but they do it sometimes if it feels convenient. Are you giving him/her the proper supplementation?

@brownie64 yes I am.. I just got him from a local pet store three days ago and my veiled never did this so I was wondering if it was normal... any ideas on the sex? The petstore said it was too early to tell but I figured I'd ask the real experts on here....

I have never bred panthers before so not an expert, but if I had to guess (and it is a guess mind you) I'm leaning male do to the thickness at the base of the tail. I'm sure other's will correct me if I'm wrong.

anyone else have any idea? based on my experience with chams (not that experienced) but i was leaning towards a male as well...

Here's a few more pics....
