Toys/Enrichment?

Hey all!

So I know our chameleon loves aren't exactly the brightest of creatures, but are there any kind of toys or enrichment activities we can provide to them?

My boy's favorite activity is sitting perfectly still on his favorite perch, and he usually is pretty mad if you try to move him! But is he getting bored at all? What can I do to make his life a little brighter?

I would think that as ambush predators most chameleons have a mechanism to deal with boredom. That said I think occasional flying insect or loose feeder might add some enrichment. Adding feeder cups in different areas of the cage with just an insect or two in each one might be stimulating if you hate loose bugs.

Flies are great enrichment! Chameleons don't play with things per say. The best thing you can do for enrichment is to provide opportunities for natural behaviors. Lots of branches for climbing, thick plants to hide in and opportunities to cruise and hunt.

Playing is usually begaviour to learn hunting and/or a social aspect.
Both not really relevant to chameleons so I guess the most 'fun' you can give em is tasty foods he can hunt and plenty of space to utilize

I think its more like when they put the block of frozen fish in the eagle cage at the zoo...
Some times you just want to work for it.
