Trade Show Pricing???

I am planning on heading to the Super Show down in San Diego in June... But seeing as this will be my first I was just curious... How much better is the pricing compared to online. How do the prices of Breeding age Chams at the show compare to buying online (aside from saving on shipping). I would hate to drive the 2 hours down there and find out I could have ordered the same thing cheaper from the internet.

In general it is harder to find many breeding age panthers. Veileds are a bit easier to find at that age. But in general you will see some panthers, about 3 months of age, for maybe 25 or 50 less. Then you save the 50 on shipping. Also it is definitely worth going to pick out your own chameleon. Veileds aren't much cheaper at shows, but again you get to pick them and no shipping charge.

yep, I agree. It is better to pick them out at a show. Plus you get to meet the breeder. Also the main reason I buy there is to not pay for shipping.

$25 or $50 for a Panther!?! Even at 3 months of age that price is a lot better than what I have been seeing online.

I'm thinking of going to San Diego show as well and it'll be my first show as well. SoCaliSun, even though the chameleons aren't that much of a bargain (but $25-50 less and no shipping = $75-100), since you're interested in snakes as well. That's where the bargains are in these reptile shows.

IMO there are always deals to be had Sunday afternoon as a show gets ready to close. Cash is King, remember that. Breaking even or loosing money on the show sometimes comes down to 1 Panther sale. You should be able to find a deal or two before getting the savings from not having to pay shipping. If you've never gone to a show, you should check it out. The drive will be an adventure for you. Plus, you'll get to meet the Nozakis.

No 25 or 40 less. So probably the cheapest is around $175.

lol Sorry!... I misread that... I was going to say I have never seen a healthy panther for sale for under $150. But still those deals sound good. Thanks bllanosr... I am actually looking for a good snake rack system... Maybe I can find a good deal on that also. None of the people on the snake forums are talking about the show so I figured it wasn't really geared for snakes... But that is awesome.

That is a good point Matt... I was planning on just going Saturday, trying to get there before things are picked over. But I like the idea of the last minute cash offer. Thanks for the tip. I heard this one is going to be pretty big... Do you think there will be enough to stay entertained for 2 days?

Well I love talking Chams and would love to meet some fellow site members that see me around... So I will be sure to wear my colors! When you see the Beach bum in the Green Bay shirt please say hello...

you're going to be a sad GB fan next season muahahaahahahha go bucs!

yea i agree with everything said so far however

you do have to watch out

even the best breeders house many young chams together and rarely injuries occur or tails get nipped(usually this happens before the show but i'm sure its happened at the show too)

so just be careful to inspect your chameleon all around and possibly even look inside his mouth to make sure you are getting what you pay for

If you are at the show from open to close I am sure you can get your fill in one day… However if you are a total herp nut then I suppose that you can never really get enough :p, its shaping up to be a nice + big show. Stop by and say hello!

i plan to go by with my dad since he thinks my chameleon is a chame idk y but ok, but i will let you know im from the f0rums so i can get my quater discount or so....

Generally speaking it's best to go to the tradeshows
to at least meet the breeder and pick the animal

I've got all my holdbacks to let go
so if someone's got a need and doesn't want to gamble
on a young animal.... :)
