Miss Lily
Chameleon Enthusiast
Yesterday Lily was having a wander around the bottom of her cage (she's due to lay any day now, and yes she has two places to lay), and as she climbed back up she wanted to come out, so I opened her door and she reached for her stick. She tried to pull herself up and I realised that she had got her tail stuck in the spring lock on her door!
Had a major panic, and luckily it's the Easter Hols and my kids are home, so I yelled for my son to come and hold her while I tried to free her tail. Don't even know how she managed to get it stuck in there - she curled it round and underneath somehow! Anyway, she managed to pull it free herself (it was stuck for less than a minute).
She spent the next few minutes wandering along the back of the chair curling and uncurling her tail while holding it up high. By this time I was still panicking and trying to take photos in case I needed to post for help on here! Her poor tail is bruised but thankfully no damage done. To my relief she started using it as normal again pretty soon after.
Why does everything happen at once? As if dealing with her laying soon isn't stressful enough?! She likes to lay at the most inconvenient times - the first clutch was the day before Christmas Eve and this time I'm sure she'll lay over the Easter weekend. I just think 'Oh my God - the Vet isn't there and I'll have to call them out as an emergency if anything goes wrong!!' A stressful few days for me I think!
