Hi, I'm super curious about how other people travel with their chameleon. I live in Chicago, but I often have to go to South Bend, Indiana for personal reasons. I've read several places that a ventilated box with a towel or something to grasp on to is the best treatment for the situation.
What I have done the first time is put him in a small animal travel box with a washcloth on the bottom. I then put that in a dark space so he could fall asleep. It took about 45 minutes, but he finally slept. When I unpacked him he was alright, still fairly bright green. Except, the following few days he was hissy at me because I put him in the container.
Then going back to Chicago I decided to try something a little differently. This time I used a bigger box, like a priority mail box. I had put holes throughout the top and a bigger towel on the bottom. The way back he had a terrible time trying to fall asleep. When I got back home he was black around his eyes, on his casque, and on his hands. I put him on his plant and put his lights on because he felt a little cold. A little later I fed him some meal worms because it was a hard time.
I need some help, because of funds I have to take my little guy on the train. What can I do to help the process less stressful and easier in general? Or am I doing all that I can do?
Please help!
Thank you,
Veronica
