Dr. House of Chameleons
Hello all,
On May 30th I had a clutch of Kenyan High-casqued Chameleons (Trioceros hoehnelii) born from a gravid female import. This species is rarely imported, particularly from Kenya. Specimens from Kenyan origin have only been imported for public sale approximately 3 times in the last 10 years. Once in late 1999, once 3 years ago and once this spring. These animals are notorious for having extremely high parasite loads upon importation and have typically done poorly in captivity as a result. Treating these parasite loads have more often then not resulted in death as a result of high concentrations of dead parasites in the body. As a result, very few T. hoehnelii are currently in captive collections or breeding groups in the US and even fewer captive born or bred animals.
For reference, here are photos of a couple of the adults that I received with my gravid female.
Males:
Females:
Here are a few photos of the babies at various ages.
5/30/09:
7/3/09:
8/13/09:
This beautiful species is a true gem and established WC and CH/CBB animals are a joy to work with. I am only letting five of these captive born babies go. Two of these five were presold so only three are available. They turned 12 weeks old on Saturday and I will start shipping next week. They are $200 each + shipping. Please contact me at [email protected] for more information. Serious inquiries only, please!
