Tropical Kingdom Petshop

Hey has anyone been there? It's in Tucson, Az. http://www.tropicalkingdom.com/lizards/ I've been in AZ for the past week and I found this website and went there earlier today. Really cool petshop, had these parrots freeroam but they just stayed in the area, but it got annoying cause a gray parrot was doing the hey beautiful whistle, but to the point. They had these chams there. 2 Veiled and 2 Jacksons. 1 Veiled was just chilling, looked ok, same with the other. The Male Juvenile Jackson was very active and perfectly straight horns. On the other hand, the Female looked ok on one side, but the other side, one eye was like closing constantly and it was like going in and out of the extended part of the eye (idk what it's called)and it was just disgusting. I dont know, but I think I heard around the forums that it's bad and means something, Me? I dont know :/ I just wanted to share. Thanks.

I have bought three chameleons from pet stores. The first one I bought knowing absolutely nothing about these animals (luckily I got on this forum the same day I bought it). The second one I bought was in very bad shape and I wanted to try and save it. The third one was given to me for free, because the second chameleon died in less than 48 hours (both the second and third chameleon came from the same store). I bought my forth chameleon through one of the site sponsors and I speak from experience when I say the breeders on this site are by far the best way to purchase chameleons. I would also much rather have my money go to them (the professionals), rather than a random pet store.

I believe the odd eye activity, may have been the animal trying to clean it's eye. They will close the eye and extend it from the socket and well.... "wiggle it" to clear debris. It's a really strange and disturbing thing to see for the first time, but like most things with chameleons, it's fascinating.

i will say that the jackson's xanth pictured on their website is exceptional ,(not that, that means anything , its not like you would get that same xanth if you ordered one)

I have a pet store veiled and he was healthy and kicking when I got him. Now he's healthy and biting. The store looks pretty interesting. I like going to pet stores though. What kind of enclosures were the chams in? The eye thing is probably her just trying to clean it. It definitely freaked me out the first time I saw it because I had no idea why he was doing it and then I noticed my other one doing it after a shower the next day. I thought I had an epidemic

The enclosure was screened but one side is glass so people can view the cham better. A lot of crix in their too.

I work at a pet shop and I can say, we get a lot of chams as donations from people who tortur....err...cared for them badly

We don't hide them in the back room, we treat them and put them back out on display (NFS) just to kinda show "what not to do"

we have had people just drop large male ambilobe's in our rabbit cage and run out the door

you can't ALWAYS blame the pet shop
