We are very excited to announce a very special and unique import this evening.
One of the most popular and endearing species in our hobby today and over time has been the Jacksons Chameleon (t. jacksonii xantholophus) and although it is relatively common species here in the US, did you know that almost all (if not all) of our xantholophus in captivity are from a feral population on Hawaii. This population is, unfortunately, entirely from a handful of individuals that escaped in 1972. Beautiful as they are, the resulting inbreeding situation has resulted in smaller animals and thinner/shorter/directionally challenged horns.
To that point, we are very excited to announce an import of trioceros jacksonii xantholophus directly from Kenya!
Kenyan Xanths are genetically diverse, will grow larger, and have more impressive horns. There is a visible difference in these animals and it is worth replacing our view of what a Jackson's Chameleon is with the true Kenyan specimens.
The animals that we will be receiving are farmed from parent stock that was collected near the Embu area near Mount Kenya.
In addition to simply bringing these animals into the states, there is currently a grass roots effort within the Chameleon community to establish the Kenyan stock as the true 'jacksons' in the community and we are proud to be a part of it.
This charge is being led by our friend Bill Strand whom many of you know from the Chameleon Breeders Podcast. In addition, a new FB page has been created to focus solely on the efforts surrounding these animals.
That page can be found here and I would strongly encourage everyone to visit it.

Additionally, Bill will be highlighting this project on his brilliant podcast that focuses on Chameleons this coming Friday.

We are also very pleased to have Petr Necas involved who just happens to be in Kenya this week having a look at the animals as well as offering his tremendous field experience to this project.
So if you are interested in being a part of this effort, or simply want to own some awesome and majestic animals, the time is now.
t. j. xantholophus from Kenya are being offered today for $100 each. Pairs and trios can be ordered but no more than 2 females per one male please. It is imperative that we maintain a healthy balance in terms of sex ratio.
Shipping will be $50 regardless of number of animals.
If you are interested in purchasing these awesome animals, please email us at [email protected] and/or call Steve with any questions you may have in regards to this at 901-550-1723.
