Update on Waldo

I was very recently having eye and tongue problems with my 4 month old Ambilobe, Waldo. He occasionally closed his eye, and it was getting worse. As for his tongue, he was starting to miss the crickets more frequently. I had tried giving him Vitamin A, and I tried saline drops. I tried the vitamin A for five days with no success. I then tried the saline drops for about 4 days with no success. All of a sudden, things got better. His eye stopped closing, and his tongue is starting to hit his prey (And stick to it, which is what the main tongue issue was!) a lot more often.

I was getting ready to call a vet, but it looks like thats not needed! Do you think it was vitamin A? Maybe it needed time to process in his body?

my veiled was having the same eye issue and i just put on some TERRAMYCIN and it seemed to help but he still closes his eye sometimes but very rarely so im not sure where to go frm here.

I was going to do that, but we weren't sure that it was an eye infection. After weeks of him scratching and closing it, he had no swelling or pus of any kind.

when you say you tried vit a for 5 days, how and what type of vit a where you giving? it does take 2 to 3 days for the benifits of the vit a to start showing, in my experience anyway.
and yes i would say the vit a was the issue, i have the exact issue if i do not keep up on the a with my veiled.

Glad he is feeling better and I would keep vit. A as one of his supplements at least a couple times a month.

do you take your chameleon outside alot? just curious, I know you live in Florida.
Every morning when I wake up, I take him outside to eat. He stays out for about an hour.

I got vitamin A softgels that are 10,000 IU, and contain Retinyl Palminate instead of Beta cartine. (Or whatever it is) I poke a hole in the softgel pill and take about half a drop and put it on a cotton cu tip. Once the cu tip has the vitamin A on it, I rub it down the back of a cricket. I then feed the cricket to Waldo.
Very glad that Waldo is feeling better!
Thanks!

Yeah, I plan on doing so! Thanks! :)

ok if you did that 5 days in a row u are lucky he is still with us.. for future refferance i suggest only using raw human grade vit a capsoles, on a single feeder twice a month. it will take a day or two to notice the improvement. and that goes for just about everything, always give a day or two to see the effects of what you do before you start to repeat it. jmo anyway
also you only want a tiny bit onthe cricket, in that capsole is enought for over 100 doses less is definatly more here....
